'I have worked on a number of curatorial projects with Mehreen in various capacities, and what distinguishes her from others that I have worked with is her ability to accomplish her goals, deal with changing situations, to clearly articulate ideas, and to manage projects in projects that are very challenging. She has become an excellent colleague, and her continuing expansion of her practice is a joy to observe.'

Anna Ruffino – Consul General of Italy in Karachi.

'Karachi enjoys a rich cultural and artistic life. I visited the art exhibition “From here to there” at Art Kaam Gallery curated by Ms. Mehreen Hashmi who is energetic and talented. She has fabulous ideas and is currently working on her upcoming art project “Kabutar”. I wish her success in all her future endeavors.'

‘I have known Mehreen Hashmi since last four years through her exhibitions as a curator. In 2013, Mehreen initiated a project titled ‘Paywasta Reh Shajar Se’ which was based on conducting art classes in underprivileged areas in Karachi. As School Director to BPW Quality School in Azam Town, we are extremely grateful to Mehreen Hashmi for initiating summer art classes at the School. Mehreen not only initiated the summer school but also displayed our students’ art work at various top galleries of the city. Proceeds from the sale of paintings were given directly to the budding artist. Mehreen not only introduce our students to the basics of art but also made them feel confident and proud of themselves by displaying their talent to the world.

As long as I know, Hashmi has been working towards creating awareness about art education and has continued with her project in later years. She has been consistent and determined with her initiated grounds. Her self-portraits are also another form of her statement towards most ignored issue of our society. Her work shows her strength against her consequences she has battled. I have attended several openings and exhibitions she has been arranged through out these years. It has been a delight to see the way she brings the whole community together and has been creating awareness for a need of art in our society.’
